It is time to show our teachers some love. Teacher appreciation week is here! School shutdowns have made us all teachers and given us some insight into what they really do. Teaching is a hard job, and as parents, we have no IDEA what teachers do on a day to day basis but I think everyone has a more realistic idea of it now. It is time to show our teachers some love. Teacher appreciation week is usually the first week of May, so don’t forget about them.
During the time of social distancing we have all had to get pretty creative. I know teachers will miss all the handmade gifts, the hugs, high fives and special cards, hopefully everything will get back to normal soon. In the meantime, here are some ways to appreciate the teachers in your life while still staying safe. Here are 7 teacher appreciation week gift ideas to show your teacher some digital love.
Digital Gift cards
Gift cards are always my go-to. They are simple, easy and teachers can pick out whatever they want. Digital gift cards are even better. All you need is your teacher’s email address. If you are not sure what kind of gift card to get just ask, but you can’t go wrong with Amazon Walmart, or Target. Teachers pay teachers is also great for elementary and middle school teachers. You can visit mine here.
Time Saving Subscriptions
Teachers love things that make their jobs easier. As a teacher I had a subscription to various teacher websites like education.com, super teachers and flocabulary. Education.com has interactive games that help teachers see what a student still needs to learn. As students work on the site teachers receive data that helps them better help your child. Some sites like superteachers lets teachers easily find worksheets on topics they are teaching. This means your child’s teacher isn’t spending hours after school trying to find worksheets to go with her or his lessons. My all-time favorite is flocabulary.com. Flocabulary has catchy songs for hard to teach skills, this site saved me so much time and stress. We would listen to the songs everyday and by the end of the week my students knew the song and had learned the skill. These sites usually cost a monthly or yearly fee and are typically not covered by the school district. Ask your child teacher what subscription they would like. I’m sure they have a running list.
Subscription Boxes
Who doesn’t love a subscription box? Subscription boxes like The Teacher’s Crate and Framed by Lisa send teachers super cute teacher themed shirts, fun teacher supplies like books, markers, planners and classroom posters each month. These sites also offer gift cards. You can choose to send them multiple boxes or just a one time box. If you have a kid like mine you may even consider a wine subscription box form winc.com, just be sure to send that one straight to your teacher’s house.
Curbside Dinner or Lunch
Since we can’t go out and eat at restaurants right now, curbside is as good as it gets. This is another great idea for teacher appreciation week. Ask your teacher what restaurant they like and what day they would like to pick up their curbside dinner or lunch.
Digital Cards
Digital cards can be completely personalized. If you want a fun interactive card try jibjab. Jibjab allows you to add your face into an animated card, these are funny and memorable.Blue mountain also has free ecards. Check out these sites for more free ecards.
Cash App
Because cash is the best gift ever, I mean the best. Some people may think it’s a bit tacky but teachers love it and most will gladly accept it!! Cash App has made it easier than ever to send money. And with their more than 7million users your child’s teacher probably has one.
Send Your Teacher a Video
If you have a super creative family who loves to perform, let your kiddos make a video to send to their teacher. They can read books, sing, dance or just tell their teacher how much they appreciate them.
Digital gift cards, time-saving subscriptions, subscription boxes, curbside Lunch or dinner, digital cards, cash, or sending your teachers a personalized video are great ways to show your teachers love. Remember, “It’s the thought that counts.” A simple email or text during teacher appreciation week is a wonderful way to show teachers you care and appreciate them. Regardless of the gift, it will be appreciated. Be Blessed.
