In our family, we love Father’s Day. For the kids, it means no school, barbeque, and the day at Nana’s house, where they RUN the roost! But for me, it brings me back to memories of huge family cookouts and just enjoying each other’s company. One day we will get back to big family gatherings and just be able to “love on” our loved ones but right now we just have to stay safe, especially those who are most vulnerable. Our Father’s Day may not look like it usually does but we can still celebrate dad with a little bit of ingenuity.
1. Cook Dad’s Favorite Meal
Cook up dad’s favorite meal with all the fixins, package it all up, and drop if off curbside style. Don’t forget to add in extras for yummy leftovers the next day.
2. Host a drive-by Father’s Day Parade
These have been becoming increasingly popular during social distancing. A drive-by parade is really simple to organize. Ask your family and friends to decorate their cars with signs, balloons, and banners. Choose a time and a place to meet. Call dad to come outside a few minutes before the parade rolls up. Then drive by and wave and honk and let him know you love him. Here is some love for mom’s too.
3. Send him a gift in the mail or drop it at his door.
Drop off or mail dad a special gift. Use these quick printables to make a personalized gift.
4.Have a Zoom Party
Zoom is the new place to meet. For dads who live near or far, Zoom offers this great tool to let us all feel like we’re together even when we’re apart. Invite friends and family to join your zoom meeting and pull up a seat enjoy!
Cooking Dad’s favorite meal, hosting a drive-by parade, sending or dropping off a gift or having a zoom party are all ways to show the father figures in your life that they are loved and appreciated. Cook Enjoy this time with family.
